FAQs

Frequently asked questions

When is a tax audit required?+

Broadly, when business turnover exceeds ₹1 crore (₹10 crore if cash transactions are within the prescribed limit), when professional receipts exceed ₹50 lakh, or in certain presumptive-taxation cases. Limits can change, so please confirm for your year.

Who needs a statutory audit?+

All companies must get their accounts audited. LLPs need an audit if turnover or contribution crosses the prescribed limits, and some trusts, societies and co-operatives also need one under their governing laws.

What is the difference between statutory and internal audit?+

A statutory audit is a legal requirement that gives an independent opinion on the financial statements. An internal audit is a management tool that reviews processes, controls and risks throughout the year.

How long does an audit take?+

It depends on the size of the business and how organised the records are. Sharing a complete trial balance, ledgers, bank statements and supporting documents early speeds up the process.

Can you help us prepare for the audit?+

Yes. We can review your books, reconcile accounts and prepare schedules in advance so the audit is smooth and finishes before the due date.
