FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Who needs FCRA registration?+

Any NGO, trust, society or Section 8 company that wants to receive foreign contribution must hold FCRA registration or prior permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

What is the difference between registration and prior permission?+

Registration is for organisations that will receive foreign contribution on a continuing basis; prior permission is for receiving a specific contribution for a specific purpose.

What are the main annual FCRA compliances?+

Filing the annual return in Form FC-4 (generally by 31 December for the previous financial year), disclosing quarterly receipts on the website, maintaining separate accounts and bank accounts for foreign contribution, and renewing registration on time.

How long is FCRA registration valid?+

Generally five years, and renewal should be applied for within the period prescribed before expiry. Missing renewal can affect your ability to receive foreign contribution.

Can you help with FCRA audits and utilisation certificates?+

Yes. We prepare the accounts, audit reports and utilisation statements needed for FCRA returns and renewals.
